Cypress Hills Trout Festival - Apr 27, 2007
June 2 - 3, 2007 - Trout Fest is a hands-on fly fishing seminar held in Cypress Hills Provincial Park. It will be comprised of classroom theory and on the water sessions on both stream and still water. The seminar is designed mostly for beginner or intermediate anglers. Fly-casting, fly selection and how and where to place the fly effectively will all be covered. Each participant will have a chance to catch fish on a stream and in a lake. The mechanics of fly equipment will be explained. This will include rod action and length, different fly lines and types of reels. Float tubes, pontoon boats and waders will also be covered. Fly tying will be demonstrated. There will be a presentation on basic entomology of stream and still water insects, and which flies to select in different situations. This is an opportunity to meet other fly fishers, exchange ideas and have fun.
